Wait…That Can’t Be Right!
“Wait… That Can’t Be Right!” is a hands-on maths workshop designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and deep thinking in Year 1 to Year 4 students. Through fun, visual puzzles and famous maths paradoxes, children explore situations where things look confusing or impossible at first — and learn how to investigate, check, and explain their thinking.
After exploring these paradoxes, students apply their understanding of manipulating and rearranging shapes to solve a range of geometric puzzles. The workshop builds foundational geometry skills while nurturing perseverance, curiosity, and confidence. It encourages children to think flexibly, justify their ideas, and develop a strong problem solving mindset in a supportive and engaging environment.
By the end of the incursion, students will have strengthened their spatial reasoning, deepened their understanding of geometry, and discovered that some of the most powerful mathematical learning happens when the answer makes them stop and say, "Wait... that can't be right!"
