Stretch Your Thinking is an energetic, hands-on maths incursion designed to challenge students, spark curiosity, and deepen their mathematical understanding. Throughout this high-energy workshop, students rotate through a series of creative problem-solving stations—each one designed to encourage flexible thinking, collaboration, and strategic decision-making. Students will be required to strategise, choose efficient pathways, and adjust their approach as tasks become more complex. They’ll explore patterns, crack multi-step challenges, experiment with different methods, and justify their reasoning as they work through each activity. Whether they’re racing to apply number skills efficiently, using logic to solve a tricky puzzle, or discussing how and why a pattern works, students are consistently encouraged to think deeply, plan ahead, and communicate clearly. By the end of the incursion, students will have experienced maths as an exciting, dynamic subject where their ideas matter and their problem-solving power can truly shine.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

F-2 students: Workshop runs as a 1.5 incursion with approximately 25 students.

Year 3-8 students: Workshops runs as a 1.5 hour incursion with approximately 25 students.

Double classes with two presenters is also an option, approx 50 students.

A classroom/open learning space is required, along with access to a projector.

Student supervision by teachers is required throughout the session.
